DocForMe is a documentation tool for developers. We collect only what we need to run the service and protect your data.
Information we collect
When you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username, display name, email address, and an OAuth access token scoped to read your repository data. We do not receive your GitHub password.
We store the repositories you connect, the documentation we generate for them, and basic usage metadata such as sync timestamps.
How we use your information
We use your GitHub access token solely to read the repository trees, commit history, and file contents you explicitly connect. We never push code, open pull requests, or write to your repositories.
Repository content is passed to the Anthropic Claude API to generate documentation. Anthropic processes this data under their own privacy policy. We do not retain raw file contents after generation.
Your email address may be used to send transactional messages (sync complete, billing receipts). We do not send marketing email without your explicit opt-in.
Data storage and retention
Generated documentation is stored in our database and associated with your account. You may delete any project at any time, which permanently removes its documentation.
Deleting your account removes all stored data including projects, documentation, and billing records within 30 days.
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for all stored data.
Third-party services
Anthropic — processes repository content for AI generation. See anthropic.com/privacy.
Stripe — handles payment processing. We never store card numbers. See stripe.com/privacy.
Vercel / infrastructure providers — host the application. Data remains within the EU/US.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
Cookies and tracking
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site analytics cookies.
We collect basic, anonymised usage analytics (page views, feature usage counts) to improve the product. This data cannot be linked back to individual users.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data.
You may revoke DocForMe's GitHub OAuth access at any time via GitHub → Settings → Applications.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@docforme.app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
